Generation Y growing up through the internet and we let people see our lives through social media. So, what if we got criticism?
We called ourselves ad Generation Y. Nineties generation people is growing up throughout the time. My parents said that we are so lucky in this generation at our 20s where everything seems easier. Easy to access natural resources such as clean water. We also easier to get random foods from yummy to weird taste, from Indonesian traditional cuisine, to Thailand street snacks or Arabian cuisine. Internet is the best part, our generation growing up with technology called internet and social media where information spreads faster than the wind blows. Without us knowing, we let our lives spread out through digital media with assumption people can judge us. I let people judge my works through my design works and portfolio via Behance, let people know my style with my Instagram. Let myself being known same with let myself being ‘commented’. It can go for positive or negative. We call it compliment (for positive) and criticism (for negative). We always expect for the best, right?
So, what if we got criticism?
We got so happy when people leave a compliments on our comment notifications. The funny thing is (some) people feel being ‘attack’ or ‘hated’ when we got criticism. On the other country, critics are never been said literally in my environment. People tend to guard others people feeling even it's a nonsensical way of life. It's great to always make everyone happy. I love it. But, when it comes to critics, you just have to say it because it might change your life in a positive way. Understanding what the point of critics are really important. But people seems like too concern about how the subjects feels about what are they going to say.
It seems that we become generation 'no criticism'. On my case—this is really happened in my life—people around me tend to said things like this “Are you taking this picture by yourself?” when your images that you captured was so good. People say that because they don’t really want to compliment you that much. Case number 2, people say “Who did capture those images?” because it’s not good and afraid to hurt your feeling. It’s becoming a pattern of commenting someone’s work. People afraid of giving a criticism because some people are afraid to hurt other people, whereas the person you need to be criticized loose her/his chance to be better.
I appreciate a person who comment on something in the form of criticism as long as you give a motivation to others to be better at something. If you say it straight and very clear, it won’t be wasting anyone time as a person who being commented or the person who commented—with a very good advice, of course.
As a person who criticize on something, you need to be careful of what you point out. Make sure you have a basic knowledge about it so you can give an advice and recommendation.
As a person who get criticized, don’t guard up too early. Think about what they say. You’ll never know it will help you in the future before you try to take those critics.
On fashion perspective, I want to give compliments to my friends who design and run B-Bag brands. This bag was creatively designed and made from inner tube of car tire waste and recycled it so having leather looked-a-like. Combined with Tenun pattern to introduce people of Indonesian heritage and culture. The backpack designed to approach modern of young generation.
Peace out.

P.S.- At first I didn’t think that I would talked about 90s Generation, I just take pictures of my outfits that turned out very corresponding with my words. Is it a coincidence? But, there’s no such things are coincidence. Lol
So here I am, back with outfit post after my last post about make up and beauty trend. I've never thought that I will be in love with beauty and keeping myself up date with the trend is. I don't know why, I feel like the people around me really into makeup nowadays. My instagram feed on explore tab full with makeups, makeups, makeups.
My days of being at home and recovering now filled with selecting few works and updating my portfolio. And also I just need to take a breath because the last two months was an insane journey. I feel like I have to be 100% of making my new portfolio cause I don't want to be a "just". We only live once, so if you have a dream, pursue it. Follow your passion (this is so cheesy like a poster you found all over tumblr). Year after year we will find something we'll love so much, and for me it's fashion and graphic design. My study is over, and now it's time to moving on to the next step of life.
After the very long sleepless months, I made it. Graduated.
Now, I become a calmer person, my friend said. Feel so inspired with earth tone color how everything is so soft without having a contrast but still looking really good at the same time. I understand life is simple. Life is always just a place of transition for what we really looking for. Everyone lives, everyone dies. Happens everyday. You may sad, but don't be sad for too long. What goes around, comes around. If your happiness goes, it's just temporary. It will be back soon. What we do, we always have to cherish and be grateful every time. For the health, wealth, family, friends, and a lot of things. If you want something, work hard for it. It's never too late to start. The only thing make you late is because you afraid.
Don't be afraid.
You only live once. "It's always impossible until it's done" -Nelson Mandela.
On the other side of my life, I still browse through the internet. No lies that minimalism has been a trend since last year and now still a trend. With clean cut and very simple pairing clothes can make you look ready to any occasion. I'm sure everyone has one or two pieces in their closet. Another trend we should look up to is over-sized tailoring. I don't know why it's become a trend. But the trend itself are inspired from the street style or movies or books.
Pairing both trend into one style is make life so much easier for me. Both basically have a clean cut. It's basically what I have in my closet. The silhouette of the clothes makes me look skinnier. Is it bad? I don't think so. I love earth tone color palette recently, and this kind of brown is what I like. Wearing over-sized long shirt made with polyester is really comfortable in this city. The temperature here is above 38 Celsius. Insane. That's why recently I'm not doing layering. The last thing I understand, wearing sandals in that heat was probably the best idea.
Matte trend strongly hit our ground, especially for liquid lipsticks. Make up brands came out with a lot of flattering products of liquid lipsticks from Colourpop, Kylie Cosmetics, Stila, Maybelline, and a lot of others. This trend entering Indonesia and our local brands launched their matte liquid lipsticks, one by one.
Understanding the growth with social media nowadays, I tried to write about it. So, I apologize first before you feel offended by what I wrote. We love internet, especially free wi-fi.
We all have been living in digital era. Every year we figure something to be sign up for. From facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat, path (if you're Indonesian you must have been signed up), ask.fm, and all of other social media account that I probably doesn't know. They're ridiculously a lot. I don't know how many emails you'll get if you signed up so many social accounts. As the young generation said, it's free and this is my personal business. But sometimes, we don't know exactly how to used it.
At my age today (which is already 22), I think we should understand how to use those social medias wisely. Even if you haven't reach this stage of age, you have to understand that. We are responsible of what we've posted on any social media. Make sure it's not gonna sink your future like a titanic. For the past few months, there's too many "instadrama" (that's I called it). From broken heart to cyber bullying. From young marriage to another relationship drama. It's becoming such a new way of annoying things that people starting to get involved in other people's problem. But sometimes it's really amusing when few accounts give you some inspirations about fashion to life. That's the beauty of internet, everyone's would know it in a sec. That's why if you don't want to people get involved of your life, don't publish it too much.
I prefer shared some parts of my life, especially fashion through this blog. I started this blog to get inspiration from other person and making a journal about my personal style. And I feel the difference. When I scrolled through my archives, "wow, I look so different now". My style is changing through time to time. Not because of the trend, but I think I don't wanna wear same outfit. This blog makes me become a bigger person. I'm not an inspirational person to look up to. But I know some people would listen to what I said. It's really nice when you can be an inspiration even for just one second like a blitz.
After a long time with no new post, today I decided to write something that quite interrupted me for few weeks with shared this basic outfit (just basic shirt and a pair of vintage trousers) I wear when I don't really want to be "too dressed up" or when I'm in a hurry. My filthy white converse that have already been re-glued for the second times always be the perfect shoes for any casual-basic life with my busy days.
I like the minimalism trend, but now it's too simple and too monotone make me boring, tbh. Lol. This is my simple-basic-go-to outfit, that's all.
Happy ALIF! Alhamdulillah It's Friday!

The fact that this post has already been on draft since two months ago, and I have to edit it again today cause the topic is too "old", and now I'm back to this world. Yeah! I'm gonna do more writing here (as a practice) cause my study is done. Alhamdulillah, Felling a little bit tired but really excited for new life experience ahead. I also gonna posting more about works in this blog to make more excitements for you. I hope you guys will enjoy it as well as me enjoy working on them.
Talk about fashion, I think my style is changing. Just like trend maybe, but I'm not kind of person who following trend. As a graphic designer I need to know what's the trend in some industries cause it will influence my works. But that doesn't mean you have to buy everything to make you look like stylish. Being yourself and feeling comfortable is more important.
Somehow I realized that I never post this look which is, literally, my everyday look. I'm not gonna say that this is my signature look but I wear this look so often. Just different pants or different t-shirt. As I said before, I like to play with my outfit. It's an art. Art of mixing and matching.
This vertical stripes down blazer from my mother's era has been my favorite outerwear I've ever own. I always into vintage clothes rather than what's on trend. I have an opinions that vintage clothes makes me different among the others. Jeans is the perfect casual items for me when I have a lot of agendas in a day. The last one, my hijab. I always go with basic simple hijabstyle.
Invest to something to clothes that will make you different. For me, vintage clothes. Make sure your clothes speak out your personality. The personality is not the first thing people see, your style is.
Anyway, Ramadhan Kareem everyone. Wishing everyone have a very blissful Ramadhan with families and friends.

Surabaya is poured with rain every afternoon to evening. Almost everyday I go home with rain coat. I have to keep myself warm enough. I just got cold during TOEFL test and then I'm feeling better, and now I have cold again. I had a lot of work to do for my final projects and almost every midnight I work on it.
Moving on.
Winter mood is always filled out with muted tones, like burgundy and black. In my opinion, black is really look good on very white snow. The contrast makes all the dark color are colorful within the white snow. I scrolled instagram feed seeing NYFW street style wearing heavyweight coat to keep them warm.
Outerwear is a necessity during cold weather like rainy days. It's not normal wearing long cardigan or long coat here. But, for me, this is a way to keep myself warm enough. This cardigan is perfect. It's suitable for the weather here. Pairing the cardigan with black was a quick thought and probably that's the only thing was popped up in my head.
For the veil, I choose to wear peach square scarf to balance the black color so it wouldn't go too dark. Surprisingly my outfit was matching with the bamboo forest where we took this picture. As always, going to campus wearing these white sneakers from converse. Casual, always.
I had to go now. Still have a lot of werk to be done. Bye.
